"Maintained to the highest yacht standards" is an inside joke with the new owners of Swan 61 Viking. Being knowledgeable & longtime Swan owners, this yacht's billing caught their eye on the brokerage market, and led them from Florida to JBY in October to view her. The short of the story is that although they felt the advertisement was a bit lofty, they loved the layout of the boat, and after meeting with the JBY staff, they felt she could be made into a yacht....but only in Jamestown. Being that the owner's lived one thousand miles away and had never been to JBY, this was quite a compliment.... Expectations were high.

The boat was hauled after the purchase was finalized in mid-January.

She was launched the first week of October.

In this time JBY performed the following large tasks:

Our Paint & Glass Department performed a complete osmosis blister repair to the hull, re-built the rudder, re-coated the metalwork and other areas in the bilge, and gave the spars, transom, binnacle, and other ancillary components fresh Awlgrip.

Our Mechanical Department removed the tankage & machinery to clean/de-scale the bilges. Repaired the steering system. Replaced the heads and sanitation systems. Re-worked the entire fresh-water plumbing systems. Re-configured and/or repaired the charging systems. Replaced the galley stove and entire propane system. Serviced the motors, thru-hulls, bilge pumps, running gear, watermaker, refrigeration systems, etc.

Our Rigging Department serviced, repaired, and/or upgraded all the deck & mast hardware, and rigging. Installed a new electric mainsheet winch, replaced the anchoring/windlass components, repaired all the interior & exterior lighting.

Our Carpentry Department replaced the companionway steps, re-veneered the mast cover, repaired or replaced hatches, re-configured the galley, entertainment area, navigation station, and few hundred additional labor hours of interior joinery & veneer work requested by her owner (too many to list)!

After two sea-trials, Viking was sailed to Florida without incident. She was then loaded onto a ship and is bound for the pacific and beyond.

It was the most utmost pleasure to deal, interact, and be-friend Viking, a relationship we all have and will continue to cherish.
