DEVOCEAN, SWAN 45

One-design racing will claim its casualties. During an inshore race this past fall, Swan 45 Devocean was involved in a collision that damaged the starboard topside that extended thru the cored hull into her interior.

The interior repair consisted of clearing joinery & cabinetry to access the damaged area. One bulkhead was partially removed to accommodate the required space needed for the repair. The interior laminate was vacuum-bagged, post-cured, and re-gelcoated.

The exterior repair started with replacement of the damaged Balsa core. The exterior laminate was then vacuum-bagged in a similar fashion as the interior was: post-cured, faired, re-gelcoated, and wet-sanded & buffed to a high gloss finish that is indistinguishable from the rest of the hull.
